Network Menu
The surveillance industry has created an open standard protocol called ONVIF that allows cameras to communicate with each other and with network recording devices. You can activate or deactivate this service and change the port that it is using - as needed by your receiving ONVIF device.
Your camera provides a fine-grained access rights system that allows you to restrict access to certain menus of the web user interface and its underlying CGI commands. The minimum permission to access this menu is:
- User Permissions:

,ONVIF (Admin)
User permissions can be modified in the user menu.
ONVIF is a global standard for the interface of IP-based security products. The ONVIF specification will ensure interoperability between products regardless of manufacturer, allowing you to integrate your INSTAR camera as a generic ONVIF camera into existing security systems.
ONVIF Settings | Description |
---|---|
Activate ONVIF Protocol | Activate or deactivate the ONVIF Service of your camera. |
ONVIF Port | This is the port that external devices have to use to communicate with your camera over the ONVIF Protokoll. It is recommended to leave it at its default 8080. |
ONVIF Port (SSL) | This is the port that external devices have to use to communicate securely with your camera over the ONVIF Protokoll. It is recommended to leave it at its default 8090. |
ONVIF WS-Security | By enabling WS-Security support, this account`s user password will be stored encrypted and can be decrypted by this device. To comply with WS-Security specifications set by ONVIF, the camera must know the password for WS-Security. WS-Security support is by default not enabled because the camera only stores a cryptographic hash by default and thus does not directly retain your password. For this reason, it is strongly recommended to create a new user with only the desired ONVIF settings. |
