The higher resolution of the SONY sensor leads to a much higher amount of details in your camera image:
And even though the pixel count doubled from 2 million to 4 million in the WQHD sensor - which results in a much smaller area per pixel to collect light - the sensitivity increase of the SONY STARVIS sensor leads to crisp images in extreme low light.
